This is the Komet Airbrake. Alex repeats the same lick while going through the 5 fixed attenuation steps, and finally engaging the variable attenuation to bring the amp all the way down to bedroom level.

60-09

This is another take of sample #4, only this time it's not a Komet, but a Trainwreck Express.

We get asked to compare the Komet to the Express a lot, probably because the Express is also an EL34 amp designed (and built) by Ken Fischer. The Komet and the Express are quite different in terms of power (60 Watts vs. 34 Watts), headroom and bottom end. The Komet is louder, bigger sounding, and more versatile.

The Express was designed and built to be the ultimate Rock Lead amp. Many believe it to be the most harmonically complex amp ever, and used Expresses routinely sell for $25,000.00+

1986 AVRI Strat with DiMarzio Virtual Vintage pickups
Guitarist - Jack Devine

Lead: "Fast" mode

The song starts using position 4 (neck & middle) then the neck alone, and finally the bridge pickup for the bulk of the song. The amp was attenuated using a Ho attenuator and a TC 2290 was used in its loop for the delay. There's a bit of reverb used at mix down.

Jack used a Marshall 4x12 with G12 H30s for the session and ran a delay out of a separate 2x12 open back cabinet using two Scumnico speakers that bled into the mic.

1986 AVRI Strat with DiMarzio Virtual Vintage pickups
Guitarist - Jack Devine

This clip is less cluttered and more jammy.
Vol: 2:00, "Fast" mode

Once again Jack is playing into the Marshall 4x12 and using a Ho attenuator to take the level down a bit. He miked the cab about 3 feet away with an AKG 414 into a Chandler Limited mic-preamp. There's some reverb and delay added in post.
